Animals in Kalimantan

Orangutan Kalimantan
Orangutan Kalimantan (pongo pygmaeus) is a great ape from Kalimantan. There is also Orangutan Sumatra, which are more smaller than Orangutan Kalimantan. Mostly Orangutan comes from rainforests of Sumatra and Kalimantan. But many fossils are found in Java, Thai-Malay Peninsula, and China. The word "orangutan" comes from the Malay words "orang" (man) and "(h)utan" (forest); means "man of the forest". Their hair is mostly red-brown, not like an ape which has brown-black hair. Orangutan Kalimantan can survive to live until the age of 35 to 40 years in the wild, while in captivity can reach the age of 60 years.
