BOS (Borneo Orangutan Survival)

Bos (Borneo Orangutan Survival) is an Indonesian non-profit environmental organization for helping the orangutan because it’s now almost extinct.  BOS is first established in 1991 in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan/Borneo. It was found by Willie Smits.
The aims of BOS are:
-          Orangutan reintroductions
-          Habitat protection of wildlife of orangutan which is protected under law.
-          Information, outreach and education, community capacity-building, community empowerment and public awareness-raising.
Bornean Orangutans are endangered. The population of it is getting lower and the largest remaining population is found in the forest around the Sabangau River. The population of orangutans is getting smaller, it all happened because of the deforestation by illegal logging.
Rehabilition centres:
-          Wanariset is a rehabilition centre for orangutans in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan/Borneo.
-          Nyaru Menting is an orangutan rescue and rehabilitation centre which is located in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan.
-          Sintang Emergency Rescue Orangutan Project is the place where the orangutans to be rescued
