How I feel about Central Kalimantan

What I love about Central Kalimantan is the forest! Many people in the world have known that the forests in Central Kalimantan are one of the lungs of the world. So, many people are depending on our forests. Illegal logging is my enemy! Why do they cut trees for themselves eventhough they know that is not good? Maybe Illegal loggers can still find a solution to solve their problems, not only by cutting down trees. I hope that many people will realize and understand how important forests are, before it's too late.

Water Pollution

Water pollution is a pollution that happens in the water (rivers, lakes, oceans, groundwaters) caused by contaminantion of chemical liquid into the water, most of the chemicals are toxic. Water pollution is a major global problem. Water pollution can destroy not only one or two species but  but also to the natural biological communities. In India, 700milion people have no access to a proper toilet. Water is typically referred to as polluted when it is impaired by anthropogenic contaminants and either does not support a human use, such as drinking water.

Water pollution can be cause by
organic water pollutants such as:
-         Detergent
-         Food procesing waste
-         Insecticides and pesticides
-         Petroleum (gasoline, diesel fuel)
Inorganic water pollutants such as:
-         Acidity
-         Chemical waste
-         Fertilizer

Water pollution can affect us:
  • Directly – through consumption or bathing in a polluted stream (that involve consumption of municipal water, as well as bathing in polluted lakes or beach water).

  • Indirectly – through the consumption of vegetables irrigated with contaminated water, as well as of fish or other animals that live in the polluted water or consume animals grown in the polluted water.

Ways can stop Water Pollution
-      STOP throwing rubbish to the river.

-      DON’T throw waste from factories into the river

-      DON’T throw chemical waste into the river.

flora in kalimantan

The plant life of the archipelago reflects a mingling of Asiatic and Australian forms with endemic ones. Vegetation ranges from that of the tropical rain forest of the northern lowlands and the seasonal forests of the southern lowlands, through vegetation of the less luxuriant hill forests and mountain forests, to subalpine shrub vegetation. The bridge between Asia and Australia formed by the archipelago is reflected in the varieties of animal life. The fauna of Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Java is similar to that of Peninsular Malaysia, but each island has its peculiar types. The orangutan is found in Sumatra and Kalimantan but not in Java, the siamang only in Sumatra, the proboscis monkey only in Kalimantan, the elephant and tapir only in Sumatra, and the wild ox in Java and Kalimantan but not in Sumatra. In Sulawesi, the Maluku Islands, and Timor, Australian types begin to occur; the bandicoot, a marsupial, is found in Timor. All the islands, especially the Malukus, abound in great varieties of bird life, reptiles, and amphibians. The abundant marine life of Indonesia's extensive territorial waters includes a rich variety of corals.

illegal logging

Illegal logging is the harvest, transportation, purchase or sale of timber in violation of laws. The harvesting procedure itself may be illegal, including using corrupt means to gain access to forests; extraction without permission or from a protected area; the cutting of protected species; or the extraction of timber in excess of agreed limits (see Box 1).
Illegalities may also occur during transport, such as illegal processing and export; fraudulent declaration to customs; and the avoidance of taxes and other charges.

How I Feel

Central Kalimantan is a really great place where all the living things can live healthily; the forests are still so many, that’s why central Kalimantan is called “the lungs of the world”. The trees in the forests are the oldest forests in the world. I love being in central Kalimantan because there’s no traffic line, but sometimes there’s a traffic line but it’s not really often like in other provinces.
I feel so bad about the burning and cutting forests, the people just cut and burn the forest for themselves, they want to get profits, like got an area to build houses and other buildings. But they don’t know how it will be like in the future if they still keep on burning and cutting the forest. It’s really affecting the global warming; the world will be getting warmer and warmer every year.  The world is destroyed, where are going to live in?
